Dr Petraco is an internationally recognised cardiologist with extensive clinical and academic experience in coronary artery disease. He has an interest in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac chest pain, also called angina, and heart attack, with a particular expertise in coronary physiology and intravascular imaging. Dr Petraco has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and several chapters for textbooks and practice manuals. As an interventionalist, he performs coronary angiograms and stenting procedures and is a recognized leader in innovation and diagnostic developments for coronary procedures.

Following his medical training in Brazil, Dr Petraco completed an extensive 12-year advanced cardiology training in leading London teaching hospitals, including St Mary's, Royal Brompton and Hammersmith Hospitals, where he also specialized in coronary interventional procedures.

Dr Petraco acts as an international proctor and educator on coronary physiology and imaging, teaching colleagues and cardiac catheterization lab teams around the world on the best practice for the use of novel diagnostic modalities.

Dr Petraco earned his PhD from Imperial College London, where he remains an active researcher, supervising PhD students studying coronary physiology and imaging. Dr Petraco has contributed to more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in his field and has written book chapters on coronary artery disease. The current focus of his research is the development of novel methods based on artificial intelligence to aid decision-making during cardiac procedures.
